I always felt that this arc would focus more on Himeko/Iori’s interest in Taichi, but this episode definitely zoned in on Iori. However, it’s by no way a bad way to end and it comes packed with many resolutions, especially involving Iori. This episode marks the pseudo-finale (the last episode to air) and the end of the current arc of Kokoro Connect. Needless to say Himeko is not happy that she lost her first kiss much less while she was not available to experience it herself so she was planning to make Taishi suffer fro his transgressions. My favorite part of the book is at the end of the Iori story when Himeko enters the room more then a little angry because Iori kissed (or so it is implied) Taichi while inside her body. This part of the story is much cuter then the darker segment concerning Iori's well being and looks like it will lead into the 4th volume as Misaki explains why she has fallen in love with Yui. Having a bit of a fear of men thanks to being over powered in the past she goes to Misaki after having her own internal struggle about whether a relationship should be between a man and woman or if there is a possibility if love could blossom between two girls. In the last part of the book Yui discovers a love letter in her locker and sees it is from another girl. Although it is a sad moment in the book it is interesting seeing how each person handles the situation and how they all come together to handle the situation in their own ways. Needless to say Iori was seriously injured and the Heartseed once again came to the group and told them Iori is going to die but gives them an option to take her place and die with the body instead. To be sure, the Heartseed Alien is kind of a jerk even if he apologizes for what he/it does to the 5 friends of the club. We also get a chance to see Taichi open up to Iori before Heartseed interferes and causes Iori to leap into the nearby waterway before switching Taichi with Yui. He is feeling guilty after telling her in volume 2 that he would not mistake her even in another body.
